We’re excited to announce that select clinic locations now offer custom made orthotics. You can easily get assessed, and if orthotics are right for you, order them directly from our clinics.
Many people picture insoles or shoe inserts when they hear the word “orthotics,” but custom orthotics are so much more: They’re actually considered medical devices, and they’re designed to address a number of health issues. At Massage Addict, using 3D scanning technology, Custom orthotics are designed and tailored specifically for you and your needs to provide support and alignment for your feet, ankles, and lower legs which can alleviate the specific pains that you are feeling.
While orthotic devices are worn in your shoes and can be used to treat foot pain, including arch support for flat feet, the benefits aren’t limited to your feet; they can also help with ankle, knee and back pain as well. Many people experience pain due to biomechanical issues, which can be corrected with properly fitted custom orthotics. A consultation with one of our Doctors of Chiropractic will help determine if custom orthotics are right for you. If your pain is related to an orthopedic condition, orthotics may help to improve your comfort, mobility, and quality of life. Custom orthotics, when worn correctly and inserted into your shoes, can treat the following conditions:
You can buy generic orthotic insoles at the drugstore, but they’ll likely be too soft to correct your specific issue. Using 3D scanning technology, custom orthotics are molded specifically for your feet, from a semi-rigid material, to provide the support you need to get relief. The good news is that, similar to other therapeutic treatments, many extended health care benefit plans include coverage for custom orthotics, usually up to a maximum of $500 annually. Even better - when you place your custom orthotics order with one of our Massage Addict locations the orthotic assessment fee will be waved!
There are two different (but equally easy!) avenues you can get custom orthotics at Massage Addict: 1) Using
a prescription for custom orthotics from your family doctor, you’ll meet with one of our Doctors of
Chiropractic to get fitted for your custom orthotics.
2) You can also be assessed by a Massage Addict Licensed
Chiropractor first, who will then write your assessment to then be reviewed and signed by your family doctor.
Here’s how the process works in both instances. Regardless of whether you have a prescription, or need one, custom made orthotics take only 2-3 weeks to produce after the fitting/order is placed.
STEP 1:
If you have a prescription for custom orthotics: Book an orthotic assessment where we will help you determine the best custom orthotic for you. We’ll place your custom order after your assessment.
If our team has recommended custom orthotics: Get assessed by one of our Licensed Chiropractors who will write you an assessment and orthotic recommendation. Check with your healthcare insurance plan to see if your prescription needs to be signed by your family doctor prior to placing an order.
STEP 2:
Once your custom orthotics arrive at the clinic, we’ll contact you to book an appointment where we’ll help make sure they are fitting you just right. Before you take your custom orthotics home, you’ll also receive some helpful information on what to expect and proper care tips.
STEP 3:
Your custom orthotics will have a break in period of about two weeks. Modifications can be made if necessary, at the end of your break in period.

The more you wear your custom orthotics, the more you’re likely to notice a reduction in pain and discomfort. For people with specific daily activities (like running or playing a certain sport), it’s even worth having a second set of orthotics designed for that activity.
It takes time to get used to custom orthotics—and this makes sense when you think about it. The job of the orthotic is to realign the structure of your foot, but your foot has been used to being out of position for a long time. This correction may lead to pressure in some areas as the orthotic begins to work.
You can work up to wearing your orthotics for longer periods of time by starting small: Wear them in two-hour intervals at first, increasing the wear time over a two-week period.
The only caveat for selecting a pair of shoes is that they must have removeable insoles. You need to be able to remove the insole that comes with a pair of shoes so you can wear your custom orthotics instead.
No, your custom orthotics won’t reduce muscle tone. In fact, because they’re training your feet and legs to use the right muscles more efficiently, your body may actually feel less fatigued.
